Google now allows Microsoft Teams messages to be migrated to Google Chat

Google declare This week, it’s expanding the ability to migrate messages to Microsoft Teams. Starting today, Google Workspace admins can migrate conversations from channels in Microsoft Teams to spaces in Google Chat.

In order to migrate data from Microsoft Teams to google chatadministrators must use a dedicated console. Administrators must follow the following steps to migrate their organization’s materials from Microsoft Teams to Google Chat:

  • First, connect to your Microsoft account.
  • Then, upload the CSV of the team you want to migrate messages from. You can specify source to target identity mapping by uploading a CSV of email IDs from source to target.
  • Next, you’ll enter the start date for messages to be migrated from Teams. Then you can start data migration.
  • Finally, you will complete the migration by providing the migrated space, messages, and related conversation data to Google Workspace users.

It’s worth mentioning that administrators can only migrate data to the accounts of existing users who have user authorization and have enabled the Google Chat service.

Equally important, the Chat Migration Tool does not delete or modify existing Google Chat spaces or messages. In addition, admis can run an incremental migration, which will migrate all messages added to the Teams channel since the main migration (already migrated messages will be skipped).

Once the migration process is complete, administrators can export a report with details about what was skipped, failed, or had warnings during the migration.

As mentioned earlier, it is possible to Microsoft Teams Google Chat is now available to all Google Workspace customers. However, Google announced that the feature is still in public beta until it’s ready for prime time.
