Google raises the price of Workspace plans, includes its AI features for free

Google announced on Wednesday, all AI features in Gmail, Docs, Sheets and Meet are now available to Workspace customers at no additional cost, although the plan will include a $2 per month increase per user.

This change makes it easier to access AI tools in the workplace, including email summaries, automated note-taking, chat with a Gemini bot, and more. Previously, customers who wanted to use all the AI ​​features had to pay an additional $20 per user per month for the Gemini for Workplace plan on top of the $12 for the Workspace Business Standard plan. The Standard plan currently costs $14 per user per month.

The new prices are effective for new customers immediately, and existing customers will see the changes starting March 17, 2025. Small business customers are currently exempt from these price changes.

Customers who previously purchased the Gemini for Workspace add-on will continue to have access to these features, but will no longer be charged a subscription fee after January 31st.

The latest update is part of a battle against Microsoft and other companies looking to integrate artificial intelligence capabilities into their standard offerings. In November Microsoft has combined its Copilot Pro AI features with a standard Microsoft 365 subscription.
