Google Wallet could soon get a handy search feature

TL;DR

  • We were able to enable the search feature and the new account switcher in the latest version of Google Wallet.
  • The search function will help you find documents if there are too many of them in the application.
  • These features are not currently implemented and may or may not be released in the future.

Google Wallet increased its usefulness when it allowed users to add digital copies of text documents and passes. So you can add cards, ID cards, driver’s licenseand almost everything else in Google Wallet, making it an incredible repository of useful information. However, adding everything under Google Wallet will make it difficult to find the document you need. Luckily, Google is working on adding a search feature to Google Wallet to make it easier to find information stored in the app.

In the latest Google Wallet update v24.52, we introduced the ability to search information such as tickets and wallet transactions that you have saved in the app.

We were able to enable the UI for this search feature in Google Wallet, but were unable to get it to return any results. The search user interface includes a search button in the top right corner that opens the search screen. You can check the search screen in the screenshots below:

Separately, we were also able to enable the new account switching UI in Google Wallet:

Both of these changes do not currently apply to Google Wallet. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
