Helldivers 2 receives first ever crossover with Killzone 2 cosmetics

Helldivers 2 received its first crossover DLC, adding Killzone 2 cosmetics.

The crossover is part of a new tier of dedicated premium content, developer Arrowhead said in a statement, suggesting more collaborations to come in the near future.

“We decided a long time ago that we would only do crossovers if they made sense for the game,” the author said. Message on Steam reads. “In that spirit, we’re excited to announce our first crossover: Killzone 2.”

A new armor set, main weapon, player banner, cloak and player title are now available in the supermarket.

The second batch will be available from December 23rd.

The post also hints at other content: “High Command informs us that in addition to the Superstore content, there is also an additional Killzone 2 reward for everyone Helldivers depending on your success in the Galactic War…”

The collaboration also marks the beginning of a longer rotation of items in the store, as Arrowhead is temporarily testing a five-day rotation.

“Right now, many of you feel that items are in rotation for too short a time, and that you sometimes miss out on that killer look you have your eye on,” the post reads. “At the same time, the more things we add to the store, the longer it takes to get back into rotation.”

After cooperation, page rotation in the store will return to normal as feedback from the developer is collected.

Last week Limited Edition Helldivers 2 Controller was revealed.

Killzone 2 was released for PS3 back in 2009 by Guerrilla Games, published by Sony. This was followed Killzone 3 in 2011, Hit Zone: Mercenary on PS Vita in 2013, followed by Killzone: Shadow Fall for PS4, released the same year.

Since then there has been no word about a new game in the series.

Indeed, in October, Guerrilla art director Roy Postma proposed the studio has finished working on the series and created Horizon Zero Dawn to “refresh the palette.”
