Here Are Some of the Weirdest Gadgets We’ve Seen From CES 2025
CES 2025 is in full swing. In addition to great technology, the event is filled with truly weird gadgets. Here are some of the weirdest ones we’ve seen.
Bathing
Although the show was full of useful robotics, like robot vacuum cleaner that can rise to a small heightMirumi is a different breed. The furry and admittedly cute robot is designed to attach to the handle of a bag or backpack. Thanks to its built-in sensors, it will detect when someone is nearby and make contact with others. The head will move in different ways, expressing childlike qualities and emotions. When you get close and touch it, the robot will act like a shy child and turn away.
If you can’t resist, Mirumi will be available from mid-2025 through a crowdfunding campaign. It should cost around $70 and is available in gray or pink.
Electric salt spoon Kirin
When using the Kirin Electric Salt Spoon, there is no need to spill the salt. This gadget uses a small electrical current to concentrate the salt and umami flavors in foods. The company says that using a spoon can actually increase the saltiness of foods, and there are four salinity levels to choose from.
A salt spoon sells for about $125 in Japan. Kirin plans to distribute the spoon worldwide in the coming years.
SheetUnder
If you don’t have a green thumb, LeafyPod might be intimidating. The device is a smart planter that uses artificial intelligence to help water the plant properly and provide real-time status alerts. It even connects with Amazon Alexa and Google Home, becoming part of the smart home ecosystem. What makes the system weird is that using the built-in app can notify you if it needs more light, water, or anything else. I get enough notifications throughout the day. The last thing I want is to see my plants tell me they are on their way to a slow, painful death.
You can pre-order LeafyPod starting at $148 per planter. Orders are expected to begin arriving in April.
LG AeroCat Tower
There were many wonderful New gadgets for pets presented at CES. The quirky LG AeroCat Tower offers something for you and your feline friend. Along with being an air purifier for your home, it also serves as a convenient perch for your cat. Built-in sensors can track your cat’s weight and how long it sleeps. When your cat gets into bed, the air purifier automatically turns off to minimize noise.
LG hasn’t provided any information about retail price or availability.
