Here’s the first look at The Outer Worlds 2 gameplay
The Geoffies have given us our first look at the gameplay of the sequel to Obsidian’s space RPG. The Outer Worlds 2. It looks, as you would expect, very similar to the first one, but a little nicer. The game itself was announced back in 2021, but we haven’t seen a vaguely satirical sign or a very large gun since then. Now we have both, plus some kicks. Here’s the trailer.
The Outer Worlds 2, which you can find at Steam hereshould be out sometime next year. You will explore a new frontier called Arcadia Colony. It’s “engulfed in a factional war,” which is probably bad news for the residents, but certainly good news for people who like to pick sides to complete quests.
Obsidian studio head Fergus Urquhart spoke about the progress of the game’s development back in Augustwhich they were developing at the same time as a fantasy RPG Recognized. “It’s going very well,” Urquhart said. “Grounded it turned out amazing. Penment it turned out amazing. Recognized will be excellent. Outer Worlds 2 looks amazing. And now we have the foundation of everything that we’ve done now with Avowed and Outer Worlds 2, how we’re using the Unreal Engine and all the tools that we’ve been developing for years and years to start and make the whole next generation of games.”
Here’s Alice Bell (RPS in the world) review of the first game. “The Outer Worlds it’s okay, damn it. It’s fun. Relax and let the orange and neon wash over you. Oh, cartoonishly evil corporations,” she wrote. “But you can say it could have been great if we had to take one more risk. Real space cowboys take risks, don’t they?
