Here’s what Play Store game achievements will look like

long story short

  • The Google Play Store will soon show game achievements in the game list.
  • There are a few achievements for Google Play Games (which is a standalone app), but soon, assuming you have a Play Games profile, you’ll be able to see them directly from the Games homepage in the Play Store.
  • Through the APK teardown, we can see what these achievements will look like.

Back in October, the Google Play system received an update that included a new Play Store alert encouraging users to set up a Google Play Games profile. Once you have your profile, you can log in to the supported android games Automatically saving your progress and earning achievements, but the fact that this alert comes from the Play Store, not the Play Games app, is certainly interesting. Now, through the APK teardown, we can get a first look at the game’s achievements through the Play Games profile in the Play Store.

Today, when you search for a game in the Play Store, you won’t see any information about achievements. However, in the future, there will be a very prominent achievements section on the game’s Play Store page. If you have a Play Games profile (which the Play Store has been encouraging you to set up since October), you’ll even see some of the achievements you’ve earned for the game.

See what it would look like:

As you can see, the achievements appear below the buttons to install/play/uninstall the game, which is the main real estate. You can scroll through the available achievements to see how far you’ve come on them. You can also see how rare it is to obtain a specific achievement.

Essentially, this just allows you to view this information without having to go to the Play Games app. But hey, it’s a nice benefit for those who don’t use/don’t like the Play Games app for whatever reason.
