The Hilleberg Akto Is the Best Solo Tent You Can Buy

Hillleberg, small, A modest Swedish company, quietly pulls out some of the strongest, most rigid, most resistant to wind and weather, most prepared in Bekkantri, which you can buy for decades. Acto was first released in 1995 and in all these years only one change in design has been seen. That is why Hillleberg has something like a cult follower. Hilleberg tents are also very expensive, which always made me think: “They are worth it?”

To find out, I invited Hillleberg to send me his cult four-season tent in the style of a hoop-Acto. With a retail price of $ 740 (although you can find it for a lower sale), this is not cheap, but after use for almost two weeks this fall and winter, I think that it is absolutely worth the money. Acto is the best tent that I used to use with a very wide margin. This is not perfect, but this is the best solo tent that you can buy, and I am sure that this is the only thing made of nylon that can make our guide to buy it for Life.

Think differently

Acto was a revolutionary tent when she arrived at the scene in 1995. (For reference, the name means “one” in the language themselves, the indigenous peoples of Northern Scandinavia.) Then almost no one did four. Seasonal tents with one person, no one used silicone nylon-now the standard fabric for light tents, and no one made tents with hoops. We will move today, and although a significant part of the open industry now does such things (for example, Scarpa 1), Akto remains more or less the same tent. When something works, do not contact this. (Although technically, Hillleberg at some moment added a small ventilation hood above the door of the fly, and I am glad that they did it. This can be my favorite feature.)

Enough history, let’s get into the tent. If you have not used the cottage industry of ultra -light tents, this is probably very different from most tents for the backpacks that you used.

There are two things that highlight Acto Hillleberg. The first is a hoop style design. Another thing that distinguishes this tent is a fabric that is more rigid and easier (although, perhaps not superburial) than most other tents that I tested. Read more about this below.

Acto is not separately standing. The design consists of one curved pole in the middle of the tent, like a hoop of covered station wagon. Then the ends are pulled out of this curved central pole, with two rates at each end. There are some advantages for a separate design, for example, the ability to easily move the tent after its configuration. But after spending time with AKTO and other unbearable designs, I found that I am in order with compromises. The passage of autonomous design gives you a lighter tent with a large low -level wind profile, at the same time remaining strong enough if the wind moves at night. It is also easier to break.
