HMD Arc is a new phone that will make you smile through tears because of its battery
HMD Global, which has acquired the rights to Nokia-branded mobile phones, has secretly launched a new phone.
It’s called the HMD Arc, and it’s affordable and reliable. Those who can’t justify paying the premium price for a flagship and are looking for simplicity and reliability will be interested. Details on pricing and availability so far keep secretbut its specs suggest this is a simple device designed for everyday use.
The HMD Arc features a 6.52-inch HD+ LCD display with a 60Hz refresh rate and 20:9 aspect ratio, maintaining basic functionality. Of course, these specs are nothing to write home about, but I find that a six-and-a-half-inch display is the sweet spot between small and large phones.
The screen looks stylish, and the teardrop notch houses the front-facing camera, emphasizing practical design over flashy features.
Under the hood, the phone is powered by the Unisoc 9863A chipset and comes with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage, expandable via microSD. That’s pretty cool if you ask me. This hardware is great for casual tasks like browsing, social media, and light gaming, but don’t expect powerful wonders from it. Android 14 (Go edition), the device should provide a streamlined and efficient experience, especially for first-time smartphone users or those upgrading from older models
A key selling point of the HMD Arc is its 5,000mAh battery, which ensures peace of mind for those who are often on the go and don’t have access to a plug. However, with only 10W charging supported, battery charging may feel sluggish compared to faster charging options available in the market. This is really bad.
On the back of the phone, the dual-camera setup includes a 13MP primary sensor and a secondary lens, the specifications of which are yet to be detailed. The 5MP front-facing camera provides basic functionality for selfies and casual video calls.
Despite its affordable price, the HMD Arc also comes with features that enhance its durability and security. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for easy unlocking and is IP52/IP54 dust and splash resistant. Additionally, HMD Global has promised two years of security updates, a standout promise in the entry-level segment.
