How Does a Movie Projector Show the Color Black?

But what about the color of video projectors? It essentially does the same thing. However, instead of a bunch of tiny RGB lights, it projects RGB colors into different locations on the screen.

Now we’re ready for the fun stuff. How do video projectors emit black light? There is no black light any Light, as we saw before. Why don’t you project anything? First, let’s think about a screen like a television. If you have three small lights (red, green, blue), you can make a small black spot by turning off all three colors of lights at that spot. Boom, it’s dark!

So, is it possible to just turn off the projector to make the blacks darker? Isn’t this right? If this is the case, you won’t be able to differentiate between the projected black and the screen, even without a projector. Yes, that’s how it works.

Take a look: In the image below, I projected a slide that was half black and half white. The slideshow takes up most of the screen.
