
How to Add a Custom Profile Picture to Your PlayStation Network Account

Apart from the long list of iconic PlayStation characters that you can set as your default profile picture, you can also represent your PSN account with a custom picture. Here’s how.
What you need to know before choosing your own profile picture
Your PSN account is not to be confused with your local account. user accounts– has both an “avatar” and a “profile picture”. Although these terms may seem interchangeable, there is an important difference between them.
Your “avatar” is the default image that appears when random strangers view your profile or see you playing online. However, you can only set one of the default PlayStation-themed images available on your console, or an avatar downloaded from the PlayStation Store on PS4.
A “profile picture” is a single image that is visible only to you and everyone on your friends list. By default, your profile picture will be set to the same image as your avatar, but you can replace it with any image of your own.
Additionally, PS4 and PS5 display avatars and profile pictures differently. While the full profile picture is displayed on PS4, your profile picture will be cropped on PS5. For example, your profile picture will be fully represented on PS4.
In contrast, the PS5 displays profile pictures in a circular frame, causing the edges to be cut off and part of the image to be lost.
However, before you can start using custom profile pictures on your PS4 or PS5, you’ll need to upload a picture to your PSN profile from the official PlayStation website or mobile app. Whatever you prefer, make sure the custom image you want to set as your new profile picture is stored on the computer or mobile device you’ll be using.
Uploading a custom profile picture from a website
On PlayStation websiteLog into your PSN profile, then click the profile icon in the top right corner of the page and select Account Settings.
On the next page, click on the “Profile” tab. You can find it on the left side of the page, under the “PlayStation Network” category.
On your Profile page, you will see two photos labeled “Profile Picture” and “Avatar”. Click the “Edit” button next to the image labeled “Profile Picture.”
Select “Edit Image” and select an image from your device to use as your own profile picture. Once you’ve uploaded your image and saved your settings, your custom profile picture will now appear on your PSN account.
Uploading a custom profile picture from the app
On mobile devices, you can use the PlayStation app to iPhone And Android to upload a custom image. Start by opening the app and logging into your PSN account, then click on your profile picture in the top left corner of the home page.
On the next page, click the “Edit Profile” button. You will be taken to the Profile page where you will see two images labeled “Profile Picture” and “Avatar”. Click the “Edit” button next to “Profile Picture.”
Select “Edit Picture” and select a picture from your device to set it as your own profile picture. It will now show up on your PSN account.
Enable or disable custom profile pictures
If your Your PS4 or PS5 console is linked to PSN.then the custom profile picture will automatically replace the default profile picture on all devices. However, there are a few ways to revert your profile picture to the default PlayStation avatar.
From the PlayStation app or website, return to your profile page and click the Edit button next to your profile picture. From the next menu, select “Use Your Avatar” to revert to the default profile picture.
You can also switch between the default avatar and a custom profile picture from the console. On your PS4 or PS5 console, go to your profile icon and select Profile, then select Edit Profile (indicated by the pencil icon).
Scroll down and select “Profile Picture”. The next menu will list your current PlayStation avatar and the profile picture you uploaded.
From here you can use an uploaded image or replace your profile picture with your default avatar. Select the image you want to use, then click OK at the bottom of the screen. The image you selected will now appear as your PSN account profile picture.
