How To Fix Unresponsive Controls
Have you ever encountered this situation? You just opened a new PlayStation VR2 Everything looks fine. Setup went smoothly. Now that you’ve mastered the controls, you’re ready to jump into the game of your choice. But wait a minute, why don’t some of the buttons on the controller work? everything is fine forward You’re playing a game and the motion controls for both hands appear to be working fine. Is this some kind of software glitch? What kind of deal is this?
If this is the boat you’re in, don’t worry, you’re not alone. I went through troubleshooting troubles myself with my PlayStation VR2, and the experience was so painful that I’m here to make sure you (hopefully) don’t go through the same ordeal that I went through. Fortunately, this problem yes It can be fixed without taking the controller apart, but the process gets so silly that you might think I’m kidding. Let’s break it down.
How to check for hardware problems
Before you attempt to repair your controller, you need to make sure that the controller actually needs repair. In the interest of full disclosure, many of the details below were provided by the r/PSVR subreddit, as explained in the helpful comments Like this one from Reddit user Babydrone. Thank you all!
To check if there is a problem with your controller, follow these steps:
1: Plug the problematic controller into the computer. The USB cable provided with your device can be used for this purpose.
2: Go to https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad .
3: Find the numbers below Axis 2. Now press and release the trigger (also called R2 or L2). When it’s fully pressed it should show 1.00000. When you release the trigger it should display –1.00000.
4: If everything works fine, test your other controllers. You have two after all, and you probably didn’t catch the unit in question.
If you see any other numbers below axis 2 after releasing the trigger, there is something wrong with your controller that needs to be fixed. The value also needs to settle at -1.00000 to fully work, so if you see the number flashing between two different values when you’re not pressing it, there’s a problem.
How to fix a faulty trigger on your controller
Technically, at this point you have the option to replace the VR kit or go through Sony official support channel. However, I personally tried replacing my unit and ran into the exact same problem again, so I recommend the home fix below (don’t worry, you don’t have to take the controller apart).
The consensus seems to be that this particular error triggering issue is caused by debris stuck in the controller, so the goal is to keep trying to clear this junk until the controller reads -1.00000 when released. To do this, take the following steps.
1: If you have a contact cleaner, use it on the controller’s trigger.
2: Press the trigger, and then quickly release it to make it bounce back to its original position. Repeat this process. As you continue to flick the trigger, you should see the axis 2 value slowly increase after you release the trigger.
3: If you don’t have a contact cleaner, use compressed air on the trigger and keep flicking it. Some people recommend blowing directly into the trigger, but Consider that you shouldn’t blow air on your Nintendo gameI personally feel uncomfortable doing this.
4: Tap the controller lightly on your desk and table, preferably at an angle so you can press and release the trigger. I generally find that turning the controller upside down so that the trigger points down seems to solve the problem faster, but that could be a coincidence on my part.
Again, this is a slow process. You might need to spend a few minutes tediously pulling the trigger before you see any difference in the Axis 2 box. That said, all you can do is keep at it until it’s done. I recommend playing a podcast or watching a YouTube video article as you slowly study the controller as you go. Some controllers may be more “off” than others, so the time it takes to fix this may vary.
That said, once you fix this issue, thankfully, you don’t have to worry about it anymore. Now you can finally play it call of horizon mountain Calmly.
