Huawei Mate X6 review – GSMArena.com tests
introduce
Huawei has launched the Mate X6 globally, making it a very interesting device. This book-style foldable has an impressively slim design, a stunning LTPO screen, and a premium camera.
Mate is once again a global device as the Mate X5 is a smartphone for China. It comes with the highest quality build – an IPX8-rated design with second-generation Kunlun Glass front, vegan fiber or vegan leather back, metal frame, and carbon fiber support for the foldable screen.
The phone is based on a 7.93-inch LTPO foldable 120Hz OLED with 10-bit color depth and HDR support. The cover screen uses a standard 6.45-inch LTPO OLED with a resolution of 1080p and a refresh rate of 120Hz.
The Mate X6 is based on the new Kirin 9020 chipset, which is an improvement over the Kirin 9010 found in the Pura 70 series. The Mate 70 phone also uses the same power source. In the global market, the Mate X6 is only available in 512GB + 12GB RAM configuration.
The triple-camera setup on the back is promising – there’s a 50MP OIS main camera with a variable aperture lens, a 48MP OIS 4x telephoto camera with up to 10x high-quality zoom, and a 48MP AF ultra-wide-angle camera. Both selfie cameras use 8MP sensors.
The Mate X6 is equipped with a 5,110mAh Si/C battery, capable of fast wired and wireless charging, as well as wired and wireless reverse charging.
Finally, the Mate X6 ships with HarmonyOS 4.3, or rather – EMUI 15 – as it’s known internationally.

By today’s standards, the Kirin chipset falls into the mid-range category, so we don’t expect much of a jump in performance. The limitations of Android functionality are certainly not to everyone’s liking. But the Mate X6 is one of the best large foldable phones on the market.
