7. Panasonic brings back point-and-shoot cameras
One thing that’s not on our 2024 bingo card is a new point-and-shoot camera, even though it’s a market trend this year. So it’s surprising that when Matsushita Announced that the Lumix ZS99 / TZ99 (known as the former in the US and the latter elsewhere) will be available in February 2025.
This pocket-friendly snapper features a Leica lens with up to 30x optical zoom, with a zoom range of 24-720mm, making it more versatile than a smartphone, and can be digitally multiplied up to 60x using Panasonic’s iZoom feature . It can take 20.3MP photos 4K Video, powered by Panasonic’s 5-axis image stabilization, delivers crisp photos. This all sounds great, but it actually borrows 10-year-old technology from the Lumix ZS80/TZ80 it replaces, and the newer model is arguably a downgrade as the EVF (electronic viewfinder) has been removed .
So why launch a new model? It supports USB-C charging, which means it can continue to be on shelves after the EU Universal Charger Directive takes effect in 2025. So it’s not so much a comeback for point-and-shoot cameras as it is keeping it alive…just.
6. Nintendo Switch 2 leaks again…twice
We just talked about the Nintendo Switch 2 leaks ICYMI last week To wrap things up, but it happens again, the upcoming console was shown off not just once, but twice.
in announcing its new product Kill switch 2 As for the upcoming hardware, Dbrand appears to be showcasing it through a 3D rendering of the inside of the handheld device, which its CEO said is based on “3D scans of real hardware.”
And then we obviously revisited the hardware Youtube channel nerd nest A video has been released showing off what appears to be a dummy mockup of the Switch 2, which was apparently obtained from third-party accessory manufacturer iVoler.
We haven’t seen what the Nintendo Switch 2 will look like yet, but leaks seem to indicate that those hoping for a major redesign will be sorely disappointed. Maybe this will be one of those situations where we’re best left in the dark beforehand.
5. The left, right and center positions of Samsung Galaxy S25 have also been leaked
Leaks are common in the consumer tech industry, but some Samsung Obviously, we’ve been treated to a ton of design, specs, and release date news surrounding the upcoming Galaxy S25 series this week.

Even recently, a famous leaker Shared a picture of the Spigen protective case for Galaxy S25 Ultraand since Spigen is a major brand, these design details are likely accurate.
this Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses Not bad, but it could be better, and a leak this week suggests Meta is gearing up to deliver their most requested upgrade in 2025: the display.
This is based on Wall Street Journal, It said that “a person familiar with the project” suggested that Ray-Ban glasses would be equipped with a “single small in-lens screen” to provide users with a small HUD so that they do not have to always take their phones out of their pockets.
It won’t be as feature-rich as the consumer version Meta Orion AR Glasses Prototypes wowed us this year, but it’s a step in the right direction and adds credence to rumors that Orion will arrive in 2027 – which is much closer than it seems.

Just last week, OpenAI fully launched on Soraits highly anticipated artificial intelligence video generator. Excellently, Google An update to the video generation tool has been released, and I see 2 Probably the best we’ve ever seen.
Google’s Veo AI video generator update adds huge improvements like 4K resolution output and focuses on “better understanding real-world physics and the nuances of human movement and expression,” which should help improve its overall detail and realism.
