If you’re as sick of Batman’s origin story as everyone else, don’t worry, because James Gunn has no intention of putting it to screen

We all know that Superman fell to his death on a farm as a child, we all know that Spider-Man was bitten by a radioactive spider and gained superpowers, and we all saw Batman’s parents being killed in front of him, leaving him stumped. on the path of vigilance. But whenever the caped crusader appears on the big screen DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn’s new DCU, he won’t be doing this in the origin story. Speaking to Rotten Tomatoes, Gunn explained that Batman “already exists in this universe, just like when we come to Superman movie, and we see that Superman already exists, people in Metropolis already know him. We don’t need to hear the origin story again.”

Technically, Batman has already appeared in the new DCU, as he made a cameo in the recent episode “Gunn’s Creature Commando,” with the director explaining that it was “just a way to introduce Batman as being part of this universe.” Don’t pay too much attention to the cameo, however, as Gunn also noted that he’s not really ready to reveal anything about the character. “When I was first shown this episode, there was a lot more Batman. And I said, “I’m not ready to do this… more silhouette!”

While a new Batman movie is on the way, there is currently no word on when we’ll be able to see it. This movie is called “The Brave and the Bold” and will be directed by “The Flash” director Andy Muschietti (a choice, of course), and while it won’t be canon to the DCU, there are more Batman: Part 2 – although this happened recently another delay until 2027.
