In 2023 Microsoft abandoned the entire line of PC accessoriesincluding popular products such as ergonomic keyboards and mice. Later, Incase will intervene in the matter. to maintain the line, and just recently launched The first mice developed by Microsoft under the Incase brand.
These new Incase accessories are identical to the Microsoft accessories, only the Microsoft logo is replaced with the Incase logo. Incase releases new desktop keyboard today it was canceled before it even had a chance to hit the market as Microsoft shut down its PC line.
Named Compact, ergonomic keyboardThis new accessory features a modern design with a split keyboard layout similar to the Surface Ergonomic Keyboard, but without the numeric keypad and in black. It features the new Copilot dongle, can be paired with up to three devices via Bluetooth 4.0, and has a battery life of about 36 months.
Incase highlights how small the overall keyboard size is: just 13 by 8.6 inches. Because it was designed by Microsoft, it fits perfectly into Microsoft’s current design language, pairing nicely with the current Surface portfolio with an identical key font and a similar typing feel with 1.3mm key travel.
My understanding is that this keyboard was one of the last PC accessories that Microsoft was working on before it decided to stop selling them under the Microsoft brand. The keyboard has been in limbo since then, but thanks to a partnership between Microsoft and Incase, it’s finally available for purchase.
The compact, ergonomic keyboard will be available in the next few weeks, but it won’t be cheap. Incase says the keyboard will be on sale for $119.99which is quite expensive for a plastic Bluetooth keyboard. At this price, you’re paying for a “designed by Microsoft” aesthetic.
Incase is set to release many more Microsoft-designed accessories in the coming months, including more ergonomic mice, older keyboard designs, and even some audio accessories. If you’ve ever been a fan of Microsoft accessories, these new Incases are exactly the same.
