Intel Core i9-12900K claimed to be the “World’s Best Gaming Processor”

Intel launched its first six Alder Lake-S processors on Wednesday evening. The article number included in the initial roster of 12th generation Intel Core processors can be found in detail in the table below. In short, these are Intel Core i9-12900K/KF, Intel Core i7-12700K/KF and Intel Core i5-12600K/KF. By looking at the suffixes, experienced bit-tech specialists will understand that these are all processors with an unlocked multiplier for enthusiasts, and the “KF” chips are sold with iGPUs that have been disconnected from communication with the outside world.

Taking a look at the top-of-the-line Intel Core i9-12900K, which unlocks the potential of 12th-generation Core processors, Intel says the chip is the “best gaming processor in the world.” It has 16 cores and 24 threads and runs at up to 5.2GHz, but in your high-performance cooling system it will draw more than 240W under heavy loads.

At an event last night, Intel showed off some of its own testing results, demonstrating “gaming leadership.” You can see the chart he shared above, which shows that the Intel i9-12900K is about 12 percent faster than the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X in modern PC games. Unfortunately, it appears that Intel systems running Windows 11 have not been updated with AMD/Microsoft patches to allow AMD’s L3 caching and “preferred underlying technology” to work properly. Keep in mind that these issues can slow down gaming on AMD platforms by as much as 15 percent.

Intel claimed better achievements in content creation compared to its own flagship processors of the previous generation. In these processor-intensive cases, 12th-gen processors were at least a third faster than their 11th-gen ancestors. Of course, more cores and creative multi-core applications have played a major role in this rise.

The flagship Core i9-12900K is rumored to cost $590, the Core i7-12700K will cost $410, and the Core i5-12600K will cost $290.
