Intel’s Alder Lake-N processors have proven popular with makers of budget laptops, Chromebooks and mini PCs since they were first introduced nearly two years ago. If you take a 12th Gen Intel Core processor and equip it with entry-level integrated graphics and up to 8 efficiency cores, but no performance cores, these are basically what you get.

While it’s nice to see Intel push the boundaries further with its next-generation chips for budget PCs, Alder Lake-N processors are still a pretty strong option for cheap, low-power PCs nearly two years after they were first launched. So I’m not too keen on seeing Intel expand its offerings in this area… though given the early test results of the Intel N150, I can’t help but wonder if the new silicon will actually bring anything new to the launch table with more features New processors with high clock speeds are about marketing, not performance.
