iOS 18.2’s new Find My feature now supported by these major airlines
last week, iOS 18.2 launched Convenient new Find My upgrade lets you share the location of your lost items with others, including airlines. Now, Apple has announced which major airlines already support the feature.
Three major airlines now support “Find My Baggage” tracking
One of the most common uses for Find My is to add aviation label to your luggage and use AirTags to track your checked luggage while flying.
In iOS 18.2, Apple added the ability to share project locations with airlines, and previously announced More than 15 airlines will provide support globally in the coming months. one App integration added late last week.
But today, ahead of the busy holiday travel season, we now know which of these 15 people are ready to track down their lost luggage immediately.
Apple’s Greg Joswiak shared details in a post on X:
This is exciting news for all us travelers! Starting this week, United, Delta and Air Canada will accept Find My Stuff locations to help track delayed bags, with more airlines coming soon. This is a game changer!
So if you’re traveling this week, 3 major airlines currently support the new Find My feature:
Delta and United are responsible for a large portion of U.S. air travel, so that means a significant number of U.S. iPhone users will be able to share the location of their lost luggage with those airlines if needed.
How to use Find My’s new airline-friendly feature
If you have trouble with your luggage being lost, The method is as follows You can share its location:
- Make sure you are running iOS 18.2
- Open Find My and click on the missing item
- Click “Share Project Location”
- This will produce a web page with a shareable link to track the project
Each airline offers its own method of submitting shared links, so check with your airline for instructions.
Also, be sure to disable tracking links after successfully retrieving your luggage.
