iPadOS 18.3 and macOS 15.3 betas still don’t have new Mail app
Apple released on Monday First beta version of iOS 18.3 and macOS 15.3 rolled out to usersJust days after iOS 18.2 was released to the public. There isn’t much to say about the new features in today’s beta, and unfortunately for Mac and iPad users, iPadOS 18.3 and macOS 15.3 still don’t have the redesigned Mail app.
New Mail app not yet available on Mac and iPad
In iOS 18.2, Apple launches new Mail app – revealed back at WWDC 2024 in June. The app also makes it easier to see who sent each email. However, New app only available for iPhone users.
While Apple hasn’t said when the new Mail app will be coming to iPads and Macs, some marketing images for the M4 Mac released in October showed a redesigned Mail app in macOS, suggesting the update will eventually come to those devices.
Unfortunately, today’s beta releases of iPadOS 18.3 and macOS 15.3 don’t yet implement this. At least in this first beta, the Mail app still looks the same on iPad and Mac. Of course, this is just the first beta and there’s still a lot to do before the official release, but maybe the new Mail API will only be released on iPads and Macs with iPadOS 18.4 and macOS 15.4, both of which are expected to be released Released in April 2025.
This isn’t the first time Apple has split new features between devices. For example, the Genmoji feature for creating your own custom emojis was introduced in iOS 18.2 for iPhone and iPad users, but wasn’t available on Mac until now in macOS 15.3 beta 1.
Additionally, the new Mail app has been criticized by some users, who don’t seem to like the new categories feature (luckily, There is a way to revert it to the old design), so these users may be relieved not to have to deal with the same issue on other devices.
iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and macOS 15.3 are expected to be released to the public between January and February.
