It’s raining flagship-killers: The only phone you’ll ever need costs $400
Every once in a while, a phone comes on the market that makes me question why we still spend $1,000 or more on flagship devices, and this time it’s the Realme Neo 7’s turn to do the same thing.
Just launched in China for just under $400 (imported), the Realme Neo 7 may not be perfect, but it’s so close to a flagship that most competitors look overpriced (to say the least).
Nearly 2 times faster than Google’s latest $1,200 flagship, and only 1/3 the price?
Performance is another highlight of Realme Neo 7, thanks to the latest generation Dimensity 9300+ chip, which will outperform devices such as Pixel 9 Pro XLthe score in Antutu is 90% higher than the Google Tensor G4, and the score in Geekbench is 60% higher. We’re talking about a $400 phone and a $1,200 phone.
Who needs a more powerful chip than the one currently in the Realme Neo 7? Realme even gives you the latest and greatest UFS 4.0 storage, with 12GB RAM on the base model and performance on par with its peers. Galaxy S24 Ultra and one plus 12this is…banana.
Heck…it outlasts your $1,300 Galaxy S24?
IP68 is so 2015, as IP69 is now the new gold standard for smartphone durability. Redmi Note 14 Pro+ As for the Redmi K80 flagship killer, durability is an area Mid-range mobile phone No more compromise.
The same goes for the Realme Neo 7, which gets the (now) standard IP69 dust/water resistance treatment that almost every new Chinese phone priced over $300 seems to have.
Real-me’s superpower: 7,000 mAh battery + fast charging = phone lasts twice as long a day – or more than 5 years
The Realme Neo 7 should last for two days on a single charge without any issues. Unless you are a super heavy user. Not Plus Zied.
However, the most impressive “little” detail of the Realme Neo 7 is that it comes with a 7,000 mAh battery – and that’s not a typo.
Chinese mobile phones are already at least a year ahead of the “Big Three” in battery technology, and they’re not afraid to show off their muscle to Apple, Samsung and Google. As it should be.
Realme claims the 7,000 mAh Si/C battery (typing this still doesn’t seem real!) lasts up to three days, and while I’m guessing you’d have to be a light user to get that result, I’m pretty sure this phone will work for most For a human, two days can be spent comfortably. This is crazy.
To help you understand this, let me remind you of Samsung and Google’s $800 Galaxy S24 and Pixel 9 Barely able to get through a day of heavy use. In fact, even top-notch iPhone 16 Pro Max It’s hard to last two days on a single charge.
Of course, such a huge battery requires fast charging, up to 80W – relatively conservative considering the size of the battery, but still much faster than mainstream “Western” flagships.
I’ve talked about this before, but big battery + fast charging equals a very underrated combination – it means you don’t even need to charge the phone to 100% to get a full day of use, which also means you’ll get This keeps your battery healthy over time, and you don’t have to wait for a full charge to be ready when you need it.
This is a game-changing combination of hardware that will take years to make its way to Samsung, Google, and Apple flagship stores. Realme offers this to us for less than $400. On a phone that doesn’t compromise on (almost) anything else.
A $400 flagship without a flagship camera? For 90% of smartphone users, this isn’t a problem and there’s a simple solution
Who needs a flagship phone camera when you can buy a real camera for the money you save?
Speaking of compromises, the Realme Neo 7’s camera system is where the real (me) cost-cutting takes place, and I’m not mad about it.
The 50MP main camera has a relatively small 1/1.9-inch sensor, which suggests it won’t be on par with the best flagships, but I’m sure it’ll be enough for 90% of users shopping in the $400 price segment – people like my mom and My uncle.
Meanwhile, the 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera may seem useless, but it makes the camera system more versatile and I’m glad it exists. i am sure of the future iPhone SE 4 Users will agree.
What do most people use their phone cameras for? Instagram and TikTok photos/videos don’t require a $1,200 camera phone – unless you’re a professional/semi-professional creator.
However, if you are passionate about photography or videography, you can (and probably should) invest in a dedicated camera such as the popular Sony ZV-1 (fixed lens option), Sony ZV-E10 (mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses ) or similar cameras Osmo Pocket 3 (or even DJI Osmo Action).
The best part is that if you buy any of the aforementioned cameras and the Realme Neo 7, it’ll still cost you less than buying a $1,200 flagship phone — which takes worse photos than Sony’s camera, and less expensive than the Osmo Pocket 3 Impressive video.
Don’t be obsessed with affordable Chinese phones disrupting the smartphone market (like never before)
Silicon-carbon batteries have set off a new revolution in the smartphone market. Apple, Samsung and Google need to catch up quickly.
Price less than 400 USD (imported), true self The Neo 7 looks to be a truly special phone, thanks to the value it offers, but mostly thanks to a crazy battery charging experience that’s probably unmatched right now.
Of course, it’s also worth considering the other Chinese flagship killers I’ve written about – like the slightly cheaper Redmi Note 14 Pro+ Or the Redmi K80, which is very close to the Realme Neo 7 in terms of battery and performance.
Although it might be worth waiting for the usual suspects in this price segment – coming soon iPhone SE 4, Galaxy A56and Pixel 9aI can tell you right now that they can’t compare to the Realme Neo 7 in terms of battery life, performance, and overall value.
For example, iPhone SE 4 It’s likely to offer similar performance thanks to Apple’s flagship A18 chip, with battery life, display, design and charging speeds straight ahead of 2020’s.
And although Pixel 9a and Galaxy A56 While it might give you better cameras and top-notch AI (in the case of the Pixel), the rest of the hardware won’t be on par with the Realme Neo 7 or any of Xiaomi’s recent flagship killers.
Realme Neo 7 is just another Chinese killer product, which highlights how overpriced some mainstream products are Mid-range mobile phone In contrast, it’s nice to see.
At the same time, it raises an eternal question: do you need a “flagship phone”? Because it’s a flagship phone – just without a zoom camera and wireless charging. Did I mention the import cost is $400? Or you can wait for the global version…
