“It’s something that I hope people will be surprised by” – As Matt Reeves teases The Batman: Part 2, the director reaffirms when production is expected to start

WITH Batman: Part 2 Coming quite a while after yet another delay, director Matt Reeves assured everyone that production is still coming (soon).

Remember when Batman: Part 2 was supposed to come out earlier this year? And then it got delayed until October 2026? And then delayed further until October 2027? Gee, now October 2025 seems ridiculously optimistic, yes. Either way, this has obviously left many fans of the first film with questions as to when work on the entire project will actually begin. Back in June last year Alfred Andy Serkis himself said that filming is planned to begin in 2025.year we’re currently in (even if you don’t want to acknowledge the passage of time), and a conversation with Deadline During the Golden Globes, Reeves confirmed his intention to film this year.

“I can tell you what we’re going to be filming this year, and we’re excited about it,” Reeves told the publication. “We’re doing something that absolutely continues the story, but it’s something that I hope people will be surprised by.” The director also spoke with Hollywood Reporter where he was asked about the reason for the delay and the answer is still quite simple: “Because we’re still finishing the script and there’s so much going on. The film is coming and we are very happy about it.”

DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn said the same thing when the second delay was announced, so it’s not that surprising, but at least it’s as honest an answer as it gets. Reeves attended the Golden Globes thanks to Penguin’s nominations, and the show even won, with star Colin Farrell taking home the award for Best Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie Made for Television. Well done!
