Happy New Year 2025! Microsoft has released the first major updates to Windows 10 and 11 this year, but don’t get too excited. Across the board, we’re seeing security patches for the operating system that, while very useful in fending off attacks, don’t really make me excited to try them. However, if you are a fan of Roblox, you may notice some problems with the game in the future.

January Patch Tuesday fixes the Bring Your Own Vulnerable Driver (BYOVD) attack issue.
No matter what version of Windows you are running, the notes for this update are the same:
[Windows Kernel Vulnerable Driver Blocklist file (DriverSiPolicy.p7b)] This update adds to the list of drivers that are at risk of Bring Your Own Vulnerable Driver (BYOVD) attacks.
Not very interesting, right? However, it’s worth updating Windows to fix this flaw once and for all.
Confirmed issues for Windows 11 24H2 include Roblox issues.
In fact, the most interesting part of Update Tuesday is what updates break. For example, if you’re using an Arm device running Windows 11 24H2, you won’t be able to download Roblox if you downloaded it through the Microsoft Store. If this is affecting you, Microsoft recommends downloading the launcher from the official Roblox website until the issue is resolved.
Although this issue was not present in earlier versions of Windows, additional issues have been found in all editions. You may notice that the OpenSSH (Open Secure Shell) service does not start, which means that you cannot use SSH connections. Additionally, if you have any Citrix components installed, you may notice that you are unable to download the January 2025 update. If you are affected by any issue, please review the notes below for possible fixes.
