JBL adds a companion smart transmitter to its flagship Tour One headphones at CES 2025

JBL brings the third generation JBL Tour One M3 noise-canceling headphones wireless headphones arrive CES 2025it looks like the cans will come with an unusual accessory when they officially become available on April 13, 2025, for $400: a so-called smart transmitter that combines a color touch screen with digital and analog wired audio inputs. The device wirelessly streams any incoming audio to the Tour One M3, allowing you to listen to wired sources such as your computer or in-flight entertainment system without using a cable directly to your headphones.

This is actually the same system that JBL created for Tour Pro 3 Wireless Headphones — All smart transmitter functions are built into the charging box. and wireless headphonesThe benefit of a transmitter is obvious: the earbuds can’t connect to a wired audio source on their own. Given that most wireless headphones come with analog (and sometimes digital) cables, it’s unclear whether headphone buyers will want a similar system.

Tour One M3’s smart transmitter can also create Oracaste Broadcast, allowing you to share wired audio with others who have Auracast headphones or earbuds. On the other hand, the transmitter can also find the Tour One M3 and connect it to any available Auracast broadcast within range.

While the transmitter is the big innovation of the M3, JBL says it also improves almost every other feature of the headset:

JBL has also developed two new wireless headphone models for children, which will be available in March 2025:

The brand also used CES 2025 to showcase updates to its full range of wireless/wired headphones and wireless earbuds, which will be available in March 2025. ANC is available on the earbuds, and spatial audio has been added on the Tune 2 series.
