Jim Carrey ‘Open’ to Reprising Robotnik Role in Subsequent Sonic Movies
One of the best things about the live-action Sonic films is Jim Carrey’s portrayal of Dr. Robotnik, with the actor earning praise in particular for the just-released Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
In a recent interview, Carrey shared that he is “open” to the idea of returning for more films.
“Usually they come to me with the next idea, and if I say, ‘Oh, that sounds like fun,’ then I do it,” Carrey says in the clip, speaking to Japanese publication Cinema Today.
The actor also had good things to say about the Sonic movie team and the fans. “I definitely love this crew, I love this gang that makes these movies, and I love the fans. I think there’s a lot of really great energy out there. [Sonic]”
After Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Carrey announced that he would give up acting, but despite this, he returned to film the sequel. Now he’s apparently not retiring from acting, but will instead be taking “naps” between projects.
It’s nice to know that all of Robotnik’s future film appearances will be played by Carrey, who has put his own spin on the character.
