Last year’s viral LG TV has received an upgrade for 2025

LG changed the game back in 2023 with the release of StanbyMe: a battery-powered rotating screen that works like a large tablet. Now, two years later, LG has unveiled the latest version of its viral screen on KESaptly named StanbyMe 2.

LG’s StanbyMe took TikTok by storm last year as a useful solution for small apartments that don’t have room for a separate TV, as well as for users to stay connected while moving around the house. So what’s new in this year’s update?

Perhaps most notably, StanbyMe 2 now has a better 1440p resolution instead of the 1080p of its predecessor, while keeping the same sized 27-inch display.

There are also new accessories to pair with the StanbyMe 2, including an almost incredible flip case that humorously makes the 27-inch screen look more like a giant tablet than a TV.

Another questionable accessory is the strap, which allows the screen to hang on the wall like a piece of art or be worn on the shoulder – for what reason we can’t figure out.

Both generations of StanbyMe as well as a briefcase-sized version of GoThey’re battery-powered, so you don’t have to deal with annoying wires when moving between rooms. However, the new StanbyMe 2 has an increased battery life of up to four hours, as well as an additional USB-C port.

Finally, while the StanbyMe 2 uses a touchscreen, it also comes with a remote control that magnetically attaches to the top of the display so it can’t be lost.

While we don’t have exact pricing information yet, given the original StanbyMe has an RRP of £1,199/$999, we expect the StanbyMe 2 to retail at a similar price, albeit slightly more expensive.

Is StanbyMe 2 worth spending money on? Probably not. Is this a new way to watch content on the move? Absolutely.
