Lenovo’s AdaptX Concept Is an Impressive Multi-Purpose Mouse

Lenovo just showed off its AdaptX multi-purpose mouse at CES 2025. It might be one of the coolest mouse ideas we’ve ever seen.

Lenovo says it’s just a proof of concept for now, meaning it won’t hit store shelves at the moment, at least not in its current state. Why is it cooler than other mice? In fact, it can switch between compact mouse, ergonomic mouse, travel hub, memory card/SIM card holder and emergency power supply. This is a pretty cool product for travelers, digital nomads, and anyone who appreciates minimalist design. Think lighter bags, less desk clutter, and fewer things to remember when packing.

Firstly, it can switch from a compact mouse to an ergonomic mouse at any time simply by flipping the back, and then its other capabilities are revealed when you separate it from the middle. There’s a portable hub with two full-size USB ports, a case that doubles as storage for small memory cards/SIM cards, and a tiny battery that can be used to quickly charge any device.

This leaves the mouse in a “jack of all trades, master of none” position, but again, it’s not intended to replace a full-size USB hub or 20,000mAh power bank. Rather, it is a product that can be quite useful for many things if you are packing light for a short trip. Let’s start with the fact that the built-in emergency power supply, although small, can save lives in a pinch. If your phone is low and you need to make an urgent call or access important information, that little extra power can make all the difference.

Unfortunately, this is a proof of concept, so we don’t know if it will ever make it to retailers. If there is enough interest in it, Lenovo may want to mass produce it. Who knows?
