- LG launches 2025 high-end OLED TV models: LG G5 and LG M5
- LG M5 has a more flexible wireless video transmission box
- The new OLED panel has the highest brightness and supports 165Hz
LG Already revealed for 2025 organic light emitting diodes TV schedule at CES 2025with a brighter LG G5 OLED TVs, and the newer LG M5 OLED TV. The latter will have greater flexibility in zero-connection box placement, while both will offer brighter screens and new AI-centric interfaces for their webOS smart TV platforms.
For OLED, the LG OLED M5 (successor to the LG M4) will continue to use the Zero Connect wireless box for cabling and support 4K 144Hz with VRR, including certified NVIDIA G-sync and AMD FreeSync for gaming. The M5 will also be the world’s first “truly wireless” TV, meaning wireless transmission causes no loss of image or sound quality, meaning its zero-connection box can be placed further and in more locations than the M4 ( But TVs still need power cords, so “true wireless” might be a bit ambitious).
LG M5 and LG G5 – the successors of one in 2024 The best OLED TVsthis LG G4 – will be powered by an Alpha 11 AI processor and feature Brightness Booster Ultimate technology, which LG claims will make the G5 three times brighter than the LG B series, its entry-level OLED TVs. The LG G5 will also support a refresh rate of up to 165Hz, surpassing many similar products. The best gaming TV available.
The LG Evo OLED will also come with a Filmmaker Mode and a new feature called Ambient Light Compensation. This feature is available on models with a light sensor that analyzes the viewing environment and then displays a picture on the screen “as the director intended” for that lighting level. This new filmmaker model is made in partnership with the creative community.
LG’s webOS smart TV platform is about to receive a number of upgrades. All LG OLEDs will have the platform built-in and focus on artificial intelligence. These new AI features include AI picture and sound profiles and AI recommendations linked to specific user profiles, AI search (currently only available in the U.S. and Korea), and AI updates chatbot Allows it to make image and sound mode suggestions.
Finally, LG’s Magic Remote has been redesigned and looks slimmer. Numbered buttons have been replaced with AI buttons to access AI features, and Accessibility buttons for easy access to accessibility features.
LG M5 OLED
The LG M5 will be available in 65, 77, 83 and 97-inch sizes and feature the same Zero Connectivity capabilities as its M4 predecessor, receiving wireless signals from LG’s Zero Connectivity box, which has all processing and HDMI connectivity built-in. The Zero Connection Box is now called “truly wireless,” meaning it can be placed at a wider range of angles and distances while still transmitting the same full-quality and zero-latency signal.
LG M5 uses the new Alpha 11 AI processor Gen2, which is improved through AI Super Upscaling (for lower resolution content), Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro and Visual Perception object enhancement. It will also support 11.1.2 virtual AI surround sound.
LG G5 OLED
The LG G5 will be available in 55, 65, 77 and 83-inch sizes and will feature a microlens array (MLA) OLED panel and the same Alpha 11 AI Gen2 processor as the LG M5. The biggest upgrade of the G5 over the G4 is the Brightness Booster Ultimate technology, which will make the G5’s peak brightness level three times that of the B series.
Another big development for the LG G5 is support for a 165Hz refresh rate. Suitable for PC gaming – G4 144Hz maximum refresh rate increase. The G5 will also support AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync, HGiG and Dolby Vision gaming. It’s worth noting that Dolby Vision will not be supported at 165Hz.
