LG’s 2025 gaming monitor lineup includes a bendable 5K2K OLED

LG won’t wait until CES starts Revealing its new range of gaming monitors. The 2025 product lineup is led by the UltraGear OLED bendable gaming monitor, which LG claims is “the world’s first 5K2K resolution bendable OLED monitor.” This strikes me as very specific, but hey, it’s always something to brag about when you’re the first, I guess. The 45-inch monitor has a resolution of up to 5120×2160, so you get the same number of vertical pixels as a typical 4K screen, but can play on a wider canvas.

LG believes that the 21:9 aspect ratio can provide “a more immersive gaming experience than a standard 16:9 monitor, while maintaining better content compatibility than a 32:9 monitor.” When you’re not immersed in a game , this format also makes the monitor perfect for productivity work.

The UltraGear OLED bendable gaming monitor (model 45GX990A) can transition from completely flat to a 900R curvature, and the latest version of LG’s dual-mode feature “allows users to easily switch between resolution and refresh rate presets, and customize aspect ratio and picture “size. “It’s certified for Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, but the press material doesn’t specify a maximum update rate. I asked for more details there.

LG also released a non-bendable model with a permanent 800R curve. Other than that, it’s the same 45-inch size, the same aspect ratio, and the same 5K2K resolution. LG’s press release says you can expect “clear, lifelike images with the stunning colors and superior contrast LG OLED products are known for.” Common specifications for both monitors include a 0.03 millisecond (GtG) response time and support for DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, and USB-C with 90W power delivery. The 45GX950A uses an RGBB sub-pixel layout to improve the readability of text on the screen and make it easier on your eyes to do the productivity tasks mentioned above.

In addition to the two monitors, LG also unveiled the curved UltraGear 39GX90SA, a webOS-powered “home entertainment hub” that provides easy access to streaming services – just like LG’s TVs. The company seems to be taking some cues from Samsung’s smart displays. At 39 inches, this monitor is smaller than other GX9 monitors, but it retains the 21:9 aspect ratio and 800R curve. “It features a USB Type-C port for convenient connectivity and features LG’s ergonomic and space-saving L-shaped stand for a neat desktop setup,” LG said in a press release tonight.

As is customary with CES news, pricing and a specific release date will still be announced later in 2025. Tons of amazing screens from many other companies.
