LG’s Swiss-army-knife projector hides in plain sight

The companies were smash several gadgets together into one product for a long time, and there are plenty of examples at CES 2025. However, the latest LG projector, PF600Ua mixture of a projector, a lamp and a Bluetooth speaker, it may be one of the few shining examples of this genre. At the very least, this device will allow you to hide your audio/video equipment in plain sight in a floor lamp when you’re not using it. LG plans to place it in a living space, such as at the end of a sofa or behind a coffee table.

PF600U isn’t the best name, so I hope LG comes up with something better before this thing goes on sale. As a projector, the PF600U offers FHD (1920 x 1080) LED imaging and 300 ANSI lumens of brightness. It doesn’t provide the sharpest image, but it can send images up to 120 inches. I believe the results presented at LG’s booth are ideal for everyday TV and movie viewing, especially in a small apartment where space is limited.

I didn’t have a chance to hear the sound quality of the PF600U, but LG claims the device has built-in passive radiator speakers. Like the picture quality, it’s probably adequate for modest TV and music audio, but purists will surely want something more robust. Again, the idea seems to be to save space rather than provide impeccable audio quality, so it was never for them anyway.

As for the lamp’s features, there are nine dimmable colored LEDs that set the mood. The top section, where all the technology is located, tilts so the ring or indicators below can be projected onto a wall or other surface. And, as you’d expect, it’s all controlled by webOS. Plus, on the top panel, surrounded by a speaker grille, there are buttons for positioning, changing modes, power, and more.

LG has not yet announced the price and availability of the PF600U. These details will likely emerge closer to launch day.
