IN KES In Las Vegas, HP unveiled the ultra-light ZBook Ultra 14 G1a, a professional workstation that’s just 0.7 inches thin and weighs just 3.3 pounds. He also has AMDthis is the new ryzen AI About Max APU “Strix Halo”which gives it a powerful integrated graphics chip and 128GB of storage included.
Initial reports of the Strix Halo chipset indicated that its integrated graphics chip could compete with Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU, and if these reports are true, the ZBook Ultra 14 could be a powerful combination of high performance and exceptional portability.

HP ZBook Ultra 14 G1a: specifications and design
The ZBook Ultra 14 G1a doesn’t change much from the standard ZBook design language, retaining the same sleek, minimalist aesthetic that has characterized HP workstation laptops over the past few generations.
What sets the ZBook Ultra 14 G1a apart from other Windows workstations is its high degree of portability. The ZBook Ultra is ideal for portability, measuring 14 inches and weighing less than 4 pounds. And at just 0.7 inches thick, it’s a serious competitor to the 3.4-pound model. Apple MacBook Pro 14 (2024).
ZBook Ultra also features a high-fidelity display with up to 2.8K resolution, great for photo and video editing. Additionally, as an AMD Ryzen AI platform, it also has access to Microsoft’s Copilot+ suite of AI applications.
HP ZBook Ultra 14 G1a: what’s next?
We have high hopes for the power of AMD’s new Ryzen AI Max “Strix Halo” chipsets, both the Pro variants of the professional workstation class and the gaming versions. Early tests indicate that AMD’s upcoming APU is quite a powerful chip, although we’ll have to wait and see how the Strix Halo performs in our labs before making any claims about how it could revolutionize workstations.
However, based on what we know so far, the ZBook Ultra 14 could be a solid MacBook Pro 14, especially if HP keeps the price below $2,500.
