Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo today Volume production times outlined He expects M5 series chips to be used in future Macs and Apple Intelligence servers. The rollout is likely to begin next year.

Kuo expects the standard M5 chip to enter mass production in the first half of 2025, followed by the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips in the second half. He then expects the M5 Ultra chips to enter mass production in 2026.

The timeline suggests that the M5 Mac will be released in a similar sequence to the M4 Mac. Apple may update the MacBook Pro series with M5 series chips in October next year, and the MacBook Air should be equipped with M5 chips in the first half of 2026. Pro 2027.

So far, the M4 Mac has been launched in a similar fashion. Apple updated MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac mini in October with M4 series chips. As previously rumored, Kuo Ming-Chi said that the M5 series chips will be manufactured using TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process (called N3P). This will result in improved performance and energy efficiency of the M4 series chips compared to the same period last year.
