New research finds creative people are surprisingly optimistic about the impact of artificial intelligence on their industries, with many excited about the technology’s transformative benefits.
Data from nearly 5,000 creatives identified by Monotype appears to address the theme of creatives feeling threatened by artificial intelligence—an issue that many employees were initially worried about.
Nine in 10 (91%) workers claim artificial intelligence tools favoring their creative tasks, suggesting that a degree of automation can help speed up workflow and free up more time for real creative work rather than administrative tasks.
Creatives are fans of artificial intelligence and automation
More than a third (34%) of respondents said they were optimistic about artificial intelligence, while a fifth (21%) said they were pessimistic about artificial intelligence. Another 23% said they were neutral, 18% were undecided, and 4% chose “other.”
“This new research from Monotype challenges the common belief that most creatives are in some way inherently ‘anti-AI,'” said Monotype CEO Ninan Chacko.
Respondents to the survey revealed that visualizing typography in real-life scenarios (45%), suggesting font pairings (45%), speeding up more routine elements of their workflow (43%), and improving the discovery of new fonts (43%) were all top priorities. Benefits of Artificial Intelligence.

Additionally, the research highlights the growing popularity of subscription-based software, with 89% of people now paying for at least one platform, while the average employee pays for four.
