Meta puts the ‘Dead Internet Theory’ into practice – Computerworld
Meta happily boasts about intentionally creating AI bots, but mostly to increase engagement.
Meta’s initiatives to create fake users remind me of its failure.”metaverse» programs.
As with the “dead internet theory,” the concept of the “metaverse” was a dystopian nightmare dreamed up by novelists as a warning to humanity. The “Dead Internet Theory” is a conspiracy theory that attempts to explain why the Internet went wrong. But for Meta, the “metaverse” and the “dead internet theory” are product roadmaps.
Meta proves itself to be an anti-human company that works hard to take people away from the real world and every day he spent many hours trapped: he did not go anywhere, did nothing, and did not communicate with anyone.
The meta will fail. The public will reject her dystopian goals.
But the rest of us should learn from their bad example. What the public really wants (what the Meta used to understand) is human connections: people connecting with other people. Ads, articles, posts, comments and chats created by people rather than bots are becoming increasingly difficult to find and, as such, are becoming more valuable.
Because a “connection” with anyone is not a connection at all.
