Monster Hunter Wilds kicks off second open beta test on February 6 – Destructoid

Following first round in October 2024Capcom is preparing for another Wild Monster Hunters open beta test. It officially launches on February 6th with content from the first test and a new hunting feature.

The crux of the new content is the ability to hunt Gypseros, a returning monster from the series. Features of the first test include character creation, story challenge, and the Kill Doshaguma quest. If you’ve already created a character in the first test, fear not, because this data may carry over into the second. It can also be transferred to the full game when you launch it, but this does not apply to game progress.

Watch producer Ryozo Tsujimoto announce the test and schedule with his incredibly accurate character below.

There are two sessions planned, and you don’t need to have a PlayStation Plus or Game Pass Core/Ultimate subscription to try it out. Here’s when you’ll be able to play, including crossplay between the three platforms:

Monster Hunter Wilds 2 Open Beta Schedule

  • Start: Thursday, February 6, 2025 7:00 pm PT.
  • Ends: Sunday, February 9, 2025 6:59 pm PT.
  • Start: Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 7:00 pm PT.
  • Ends: Sunday, February 16, 2025 6:59 pm PT.

Also, everyone who takes part in beta testing will receive special bonuses. A decorative keychain for your weapon or Secret, as well as a set of items can be used in the full version of the game.

According to Tsujimoto, they have heard from many players who either missed the first test or simply want to play again. This prompted planning for upcoming trials. He added that the team is still working hard to complete the game, making changes and improvements that won’t make it into the second beta in time. Let’s see what these improvements will look like when Wild Monster Hunters will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam on February 28th.
