MSI reveals 600Hz gaming monitor, Koorui one-ups with 750Hz model

Things to look forward to: Is your gaming monitor update rate getting too high? MSI doesn’t seem to think so. The company just announced a new product that can hit an incredible 600Hz frequency. But in a “don’t drink beer” moment, Koorui says its display has a 750Hz refresh rate.

MSI’s MPG 242R X60N joins a long list of products announced ahead of CES. This monitor is firmly aimed at the e-sports crowd, with a 24.1-inch size, 1080p resolution and high refresh rate.

We’ve seen a number of esports-focused monitors with similar 540Hz refresh rates before, including models from Asus and BenQ. MSI’s version bumps it up to 600Hz.

MPG 242R X60N uses a “Rapid TN” panel with a GtG response time of 0.5ms. Full specs aren’t listed yet, but we do know it comes with VRR Adaptive Sync, is certified for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, has a USB Type-C port, has a power output of 98W, and may have a DP Alt mode. There’s also a KVM switch, updatable firmware, and MSI gaming features like AI Vision and AI Crosshair.

If for some reason, 600Hz isn’t fast enough for you, Koorui, the technology and lifestyle brand owned by semiconductor display giant HKC, says it will showcase the world’s first consumer-grade monitor with a 750Hz refresh rate.

Koorui G7 is another 24.5-inch gaming monitor with a TN panel resolution of 1080p. The company wrote that to make up for the color defects of the TN panel, the screen uses the latest QD film with a wide color gamut solution that can achieve 95% DCI-P3 coverage.

Like MSI’s 600Hz monitors, the Koorui G7 has a response time of 0.5ms. It also supports HDR with brightness up to 400 nits, but there is no mention of VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification.

In addition to the G7, Core will also showcase a 480Hz 4K gaming monitor (OG32UK) and a 49-inch DQHD high refresh rate ultra-wide gaming monitor (GS49UK) at CES.

At the same time, MSI will also display its 27-inch OLED 240Hz display at the exhibition. Asus and Samsung both have their own own versionall three companies claim that their products are number one in the world.
