MSI’s newest OLED gaming monitor will hit a blistering 500Hz this year
For a PC gaming monitor, no speed is too fast. Traditional screen refresh rate reaches 500Hz years agobeautiful OLED displays haven’t quite reached that speed yet. MSI intends to do this sometime in 2025, while announcing several other OLED firsts ahead of CES 2025.
That monitor is MPG 272QR QD-OLED X50 (Woof!) It has a 27-inch panel with 1440p resolution, 0.03 millisecond response time, and an amazing 500Hz refresh rate. Oddly enough, MSI is positioning this screen for “all mainstream gamers.” Who will consider themselves “mainstream” when 1440p reaches 500 frames per second?
The price of this monitor has not been mentioned yet. The rest of the specs in the announcement are pretty sparse, but you can browse the full list on this promotion page. Highlights include DisplayPort 2.1a support and USB-C with 98 watts of power delivery.
Elsewhere in MSI’s pre-CES press push is MPG 272URXa 27-inch OLED whose 4K panel goes beyond the usual resolutions, although you have to “only” use the 240Hz refresh rate. There is also MPG 322URX, a 32-inch 1440p design and a frequency of 240Hz. They both support DisplayPort 2.1a.
It’s big and white! And it can be very expensive. Please resist the urge to turn this into some kind of innuendo.

The MPG 321URXW is another 32-inch model that’s billed as a “premium gaming monitor with a stunning silver-white design.” According to this promotion pageit has 4K resolution at 240Hz and a USB-C input with a power output of 90 watts, but note that DisplayPort is the older 1.4 standard. As usual, pricing and retail release dates haven’t been announced yet – I expect to see them in mid-2025.
