My favorite robot mower adds two more affordable ‘mini’ units for smaller yards

Luba mini is a smaller version of the Luba 2 series. It has the same all-wheel-drive platform, although it’s designed for smaller lawns. It weighs 33 pounds and has an optimized 88-watt motor for increased efficiency.

The full-size Luba 2 weighs just over 40 pounds and has a 165-watt motor for rough terrain. It also has a cutting width of 15.7 inches. By comparison, the Luba mini has an 8-inch cutting width and can cover up to a third of an acre. Although smaller and lighter, the Luba mini has the all-terrain capabilities of the Luba 2.

Mammotion also has the Yuka series of robotic lawn mowers that sweep and mow lawns from 0.25 to 0.75 acres and weigh up to 34 pounds. The company just launched a Yuka mini that weighs only 22 pounds and is designed for small yards up to 0.25 acres. Mammotion says the Yuka mini is ideal for first-time users or homes with smaller yards.

At CES 2025, the company also announced its new UltraSense AI Vision system, which uses artificial intelligence to create accurate maps and navigate the ever-changing landscape. Even if the GPS signal is weak or non-existent, UltraSense AI Vision can continuously mow at a range of more than 980 feet from the charging base.

The company says this AI-driven technology gives the robot advanced visual positioning to precisely cut edges within two inches of a wall or fence, and enables the robot to instantly identify and avoid more than 100 types of obstacles. .
