The Amazfit Active 2 smartwatch is the brand’s latest budget option for fitness watch lovers who find Amazfit Balance a little too expensive. Announced at CES 2025, the Active 2 features a traditional curved display that ditches the curved look of the 2023 Amazfit Active and the rugged design of the Active Edge.
Among several key upgrades over the original Active, the Active 2 features a 1.32-inch display with 2,000 nits of brightness, matching the brightness of leading Active models. fitness watch for triple the price and actually surpasses most manufacturers in terms of resolution density – 353 pixels per inch.
The new heart rate sensor has five photodiodes and two LEDs, which is less than the Balance’s eight PDs, but matches the latest T-Rex 3 and is significantly more accurate than the last generation. The Active 2 also adds a gyroscope, an altimeter for altitude data, and an ambient light sensor for adaptive brightness.
These new sensors enable “nearly 40 new sport modes” that are based on altitude data (e.g. stair climbing, skiing) and more precise gyro motion data (e.g. 25 automatically detected strength exercises, golf swing tracking ).

Amazfit says the Active 2 will last up to 10 days, although that’s only with “typical use” and not what the brand calls “heavy use.” Among best amazfit watchesMost are rated to last two weeks on a charge, so the Active 2 may last a little longer. However, they are significantly superior to traditional smartwatches in terms of durability.
The Active 2 will come in two versions, with the “premium” model adding a “black genuine leather strap and durable sapphire crystal screen cover” as well as a spare silicone strap in the box for $129. This version will also be the only one to support NFC payments, although Amazfit says it will only be available in Europe. The standard version will only have 2.5D tempered glass.
Like the original Amazfit Active, the Active 2 comes with a microphone and speaker for Bluetooth calls or chatting with Zepp Flow AI. Likewise, it has five GNSS for location tracking, but only offers standard GPS and not the dual-band GPS found in more expensive models.
If the highest possible accuracy is important, you may want to upgrade. At least you’ll be able to download offline maps and route files with turn-by-turn navigation, something the original Active didn’t offer.
