New Naughty Dog game announced at Game Awards 2024, stars Troy Baker
A new game from Naughty Dog Studios is called Interstellar: Prophet of Heresy on the wayin this year’s Game Awards. The game is set in a sci-fi universe, and the trailer shows a day in the life of a character, watching some old-school animation, and putting on a Pet Shop record before setting off on a space adventure. This universe looks less high-tech and sophisticated than the one in the Star Wars universe. Instead of a sleek interface, the protagonist uses CRT-style monitors, old-school technology and keyboards, and other clunky elements to make the protagonist’s ship look functional rather than gimmicky.
Naughty Dog is a Sony-owned studio known for its elaborate adventure games that use cinematic principles, such as The Last of Us and Uncharted. Troy Baker, who played Joel in The Last of Us games, has signed on to play the title character in the new project. The game will also be directed by Neil Druckmann, the creative director of The Last of Us. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. The trailer shows off part of the story, which follows bounty hunter Jordan Moon as he hunts down a criminal syndicate known as the Ace Five. While hunting down one of the Aces, Jordan ends up stranded on a distant planet surrounded by some very hostile-looking robots.
In a post on Naughty Dog’s website, Druckmann called the game “our craziest, most creative story yet” and said the game has been in development since 2020. No word on release date or platform, but it’ll be interesting to see how interstellar shape, and where the heretic prophets come into play.
