One of the leaked Switch 2 renders from peripheral manufacturer Genki
Saga of Switch 2 video leaked and a copycat model from peripheral maker Genki reached a crescendo today, with Nintendo finally releasing an official statement. This is brief, direct and does not even remotely challenge what we saw this week is a fake.
Quick reminder: Earlier this week, Genki—an accessories maker that sells a variety of peripherals for the Switch, PlayStation 5, and various gaming handhelds—showed off a physical mockup of the Switch 2 at its CES booth. The company also released a very detailed video render of Nintendo’s next-gen console. on your websitecreated to showcase upcoming Switch 2 accessories.
Oh, and the company told French publication Numerama that its products are based on molds created using a real Switch 2 obtained from the black market.
Today, Nintendo finally broke its silence. Mario’s house told CNET Japan that “the gaming hardware that Genki refers to as Nintendo hardware at CES is unofficial and not provided by Nintendo.” This matches a brief but similar comment given to a Japanese newspaper. Senkeiwhich quotes Nintendo as saying that “they are not official.”
(Both Nintendo statements have been translated from the original Japanese into English.)
Nintendo has not issued a statement regarding authenticity even newer leak of assets from OnLeaks and 91Mobile.
It is curious that this news came to my attention through Genki. own X-account…
You’re probably thinking the same thing as me, right? Nintendo simply states that it has not provided Genki with any hardware, much less modified hardware. This has already been assumed by the whole world, since Genki previously claimed that it purchased the equipment on the black market.
Most importantly, Nintendo did No take the opportunity to deny that appearance The Switch 2 made by Genki was fake. Nor did he dispute any of the many other recent leaks regarding the Switch 2. That’s telling, especially since Nintendo is, let’s face it, a very controversial holder of the console platform.
There are currently rumors that Nintendo will speed up its plans to reveal the Switch 2 in detail. Perhaps we’ll see Direct in January?
