Last week, several plausible leaks of the final design of the Nintendo Switch 2 surfaced. That all came to a head yesterday, though, with the surprise release of a full 3D render of the Nintendo Switch 2 by Dbrand. Dbrand Killswitch suitcase For handheld computers redesigned for Switch 2. edge On this topic, Dbrand CEO Adam Ijaz claimed that the company obtained the actual dimensions of the Switch 2 based on 3D scans of the actual hardware. The dimensions with the Joy-Con attached are approximately 270 mm wide (200 mm without the Joy-Con) ), 116 mm high and 14 mm thick.
Compared with the 7.2-inch Switch OLED and the 6.2-inch display of the Switch, the Nintendo Switch 2 obviously has a larger 8-inch screen, and an extra “C” (shooting?) button is added to the right Joy-Con. Sporting magnetically detachable Joy-Con controllers with more pronounced curves, the top and USB-C port on the bottom, and has a wide U-shaped stand, similar to the improved stand on the Switch OLED.
Everything we know about the device now (presumably just a few months away from its 2025 Q1 release date) suggests that the Switch 2’s design is truly an evolution from the Switch OLED. However, it seems unlikely that it will use an OLED screen – instead, most spec leaks report that the 8-inch screen will be a 1080p IPS LCD (hopefully of much higher quality than the Switch LCD).
As far as Dbrand’s Killswitch Switch 2 case design goes, the usual upgraded kickstand or full-body casing of Killswitch cases (previously made for Steam Deck etc.) isn’t present here, as the Switch 2’s detachable Joy-Cons have to be kept in mind …Instead, the body is properly divided into parts, which are now held together by a teal bungee cord. It looks striking, and Dbrand has a solid reputation as a supplier of phone and handheld cases, so we’re sure the final design will be a success.
That said, we understand those of you craving a more… unchanged look for the Nintendo Switch 2. quite Not yet, but the leaked specs given by Dbrand happen to match the 3D printed model received by YouTube channel SwitchUp earlier this week, which should give people an idea of what the stock device will look and feel like.
Finally, a massive leak from Dbrand (who may not be subject to an NDA) suggests that the Nintendo Switch 2 is imminent and has a release date. Before the end of 2024and Nintendo itself has set March 2025 as the deadline for the release of Switch 2 details. With that opportunity just three months away, the window is closing quickly, and suitcase makers like Dbrand are already ramping up production (and promotion) of Nintendo’s next-generation handheld hybrid console.
