Today’s New York Times Wire (Game #573)—Answers
Today’s answer to Wired Game #573 is…
- Yellow: pressed into a compact shape Ball, Crinkle, Squeeze, WAD
- Green: fasteners Buckle, clip, hook, snap
- Blue: marked as completed Check, cross, delete, check
- Purple: as depicted in Dali’s “The Persistence of Memory” ants, branches, clock, melt
- My rating: difficult
- My results: 3 errors
Since it’s early January and I’m in the mood for to-do lists right now, I quickly marked the blue group as completed.
By the way, when you write a to-do list, do you sometimes add something you’ve already done so you can cross it off? Or is it just me?
Anyway, the other three groups are not that simple. I hit a dead end, thinking that snap, wrinkle, and buckle had to do with someone giving up, which I almost did before earning my own “phew!” I think the belt could be a connecting theme for FASTENERS.
In the meantime, we could have been playing Connections until next New Year’s before I got today’s purple quartet. Fez takes off his clothes and displays his magnificent beard to anyone depicted in Dali’s “The Persistence of Memory.”
Yesterday’s NYT Connections Answers (Friday, January 3, Game #572)
- Yellow: part of the foot Arch, ball, heel, sole
- Green: one dollar buck, clam, single, SMACKER
- Blue: Mushroom types ties, morels, oysters, trumpets
- purple: pot belly, hole, luck, sticker
What is the New York Times Link?
NYT Connections is one of several increasingly popular word games produced by The New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four items that have something in common, each with a different difficulty level: green is easy, yellow is a little hard, blue is usually very hard, and purple is usually very hard.
On the bright side, technically you don’t need to solve the last question because you’ll be able to answer it through a process of elimination. What’s more, you can make up to four mistakes, which gives you a little breathing room.
However, it’s a bit more complex than a game like Wordle, and the game has plenty of opportunities to trip you up with tricks. For example, be on the lookout for homonyms and other wordplay that might obscure the answer.
It can be played for free via New York Times Gaming Website On desktop or mobile device.
