NYT Mini Crossword today: puzzle answers for Sunday, January 5

Following the continued success of Wordle, The New York Times has unveiled the next game in its catalog, and it’s all about math. Numbers allows players to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers. You can now play its beta version online for free.
In Numbers, players will see the target number they need to match. Players are given six numbers and can add, subtract, multiply or divide them to get as close to the target as possible. Not every number needs to be used, though, so this game should test your math skills as you combine numbers and try to formulate the correct equation to get as close as possible to your target number.

A player will receive a five-star rating if they meet the target number exactly, a three-star rating if they are within 10 of the target number, and a one-star rating if they are within 25 of the target number. Currently, players can also access five different puzzles, with the number of puzzles increasing. I solved today’s puzzle and found it to be a fun number-based game that should appeal to those curious about puzzle games like Threes or other New York Times games like Wordle and Spelling Bee people.
In an article, “Digits” revealed and detailed the game development process of the “New York Time Games” team. The “New York Times” stated that the team will use this free beta version to fix bugs and evaluate whether it is worth entering into an updated version. The active development phase “where the game is coded and developed”. So play with the numbers while you can, because the New York Times may shut down the project if it doesn’t get the response it expects.
The beta version of Digits is now free to play on the New York Times Games website
