Today’s New York Times (Game #296)—Answers
Today’s answer to Strands Game #296 is…
- creek
- holly
- river
- clementine
- Laurel
- willow
- SPANGERAM: natural name
- My rating: ease
- My results: perfect
Even after finishing today’s Strands, it took me a while to understand what “natural names” meant—and then Brooke Shields, Holly Hunter, Willow Johnson, and River Phoenix popped up Now in my mind.
However, I have a hard time thinking of celebrities like Clementine or Laurel.
Generally speaking, both names are very rare. According to the Social Security Administration, 543 babies were named Clementine in 2023, while only 391 babies were named Laurel. By comparison, 15,270 girls were named Olivia in 2023 in the United States.
