Today’s New York Times (Game #297)—Answers
Today’s answer to Strands game #297 is…
- coal
- sock
- Pen
- scarf
- Toy
- candy
- orange
- plush toys
- SPANGRAM: stockings
- My rating: ease
- My results: perfect
My mother would always put a lump of coal in our Christmas stockings—neatly wrapped, of course—a tradition she continued into my adult life.
I’ve always thought its purpose was to remind people of the true meaning of Christmas in a time of rising consumerism, ridiculously heightened expectations and over-sentimentality. But then she told me the real reason – she thought it was funny.
I also love my grandfather’s tradition of re-gifting gifts that I bought him last year. The first few times I thought it was a mistake – the three Old Spice gift sets, I know it was intentional.
Today’s Strands were surprisingly tricky and it took me a long time to figure out that the last few letters I had left spelled PLUSHIE.
How was your day today? send me email and let me know.
