Market research company Omdia said Apple may launch a new iPad mini equipped with an OLED display as soon as 2026.

OLED iPad Pro and MacBook Pro
According to Omdia’s latest long-term OLED display adoption forecast, the iPad mini will get the technology in 2026 or 2027, followed by the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air in 2027-2028. The devices will apparently use single-layer 60Hz OLED panels.

As for Mac, Omdia believes that Apple will use 120Hz OLED two-layer panels on the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models as early as 2026, and then use 120Hz single-layer panels on the 13.8-inch and 15.5-inch MacBook Air models by 2028. Dual-stacked panels feature two emissive layers that double the brightness and quadruple the display life.

At the same time, Omdia predicts that Apple will launch an 18.8-inch foldable device equipped with a 120Hz single-stack panel in 2028 or later.

Compared to other common display technologies, OLED panels can control each pixel individually, resulting in more accurate color reproduction and deeper blacks. They also offer superior contrast, faster response times, better viewing angles and greater design flexibility. All of Apple’s flagship iPhones use OLED panels, and the company introduced this display technology to the iPad Pro for the first time in May.
