OnePlus 13 series gets its first taste of updates

OnePlus just launched OnePlus 13 And OnePlus 13R around the world, and while many of you are probably still waiting to get your hands on them, once you do, you should be getting an update with some improvements right away.

Last week OnePlus has started rolling out global version improvements OnePlus 13Rincluding in Europe, India and North America. The OxygenOS 5.0.0.403 update is rolling out in stages, so not everyone will get it right away—you may have to wait a little longer.

The company has also started releasing an update for the flagship. OnePlus 13marked OxygenOS 5.0.0.402. While both updates have some similarities, the update for the flagship model includes several more improvements and bug fixes. But let’s start with what is the same for both.

Firstly, both updates include the December 2024 Android security patch, which improves system security. They are also adding charging status to Live Alerts for a better user experience and aim to improve system stability and performance across the board. Both updates also improve Bluetooth stability and expand compatibility, which is always welcome. In my opinion, one of the most interesting additions is the Touch to Share feature, which allows users to easily share photos and files with one touch, including with iOS devices.

For OnePlus 13RThe update also adds personalized watermarks to the Photos app. Additionally, we fixed an issue where photos taken with the rear camera were too bright in Photo mode. It also enhances the colors of images captured with the main camera and telephoto lens, improving overall camera performance and stability.

OnePlus 13 the update, however, has a greater effect. The changelog is much longer than 13R and includes a ton of new features and bug fixes. We’re talking about a roughly 1GB update, so make sure you’re connected to Wi-Fi before downloading. Here’s what the update brings to the flagship model:

  • New watermark styles and personalization options.
  • Improved 4K video clarity at 60 fps.
  • Improved color rendition of photos taken with the main camera.
  • Improved tone and color accuracy when shooting with the rear camera.
  • Improved sound quality
  • New AI features in Google Messages
  • Option to add a 1×2 weather widget to the home screen.

I always think it’s always a good idea to stay up to date with software updates. They fix those annoying bugs, add cool new features, and of course keep your device secure, so be sure to install it as soon as it reaches your device.
