Philips Hue AI lighting scenes will be available in the official app

There are many third party apps that create automatic lighting scenes using Philips Hue products, but today it was confirmed that the company will launch this feature on the official app.

Users will be able to request AI-generated scenes using voice or text, with the company giving the example of “Give me a scene for a garden party”…

Blog Hue last October said the feature was in testing.

AI has become an integral part of the technology world and artificial intelligence is now involved in many things. Perhaps soon in Philips Hue? This is indeed possible, at least partially.

Philips Hue has been testing AI Playground for some time now, which is designed to create a suitable light scene using a simple text command. “Create a scene for a child’s birthday party” or “Create a scene for a cozy breakfast” should include appropriate lighting settings.

When it launches in the Hue app – unfortunately I don’t know the exact date – it will likely only have limited functionality at first. According to my information, the AI function will not yet be able to create its own scenes, but will only recommend suitable, existing scenes. You can then use commands like “Which scene is best for a winter evening” to get the correct results.

Edge Today reports that the company has confirmed it will launch this quarter.

Philips Hue users will soon be able to create their own lighting scenes powered by artificial intelligence, the company announced on Tuesday.

Philips Hue’s new generative AI lighting assistant allows users to create personalized lighting scenes based on occasion, mood or style. They can do this by typing commands like “Give me a scene for a garden party” in the Hue app, as well as using their voice. The assistant will then either recommend scenes from an existing Philips Hue gallery or create a new one entirely. In addition to creating scenes, the AI assistant can also be used to adjust existing lighting settings, including brightness and color levels.

The news is briefly mentioned in press release published today, but without any details.

Philips Hue introduces its first generative AI assistant in the Hue app, which creates personalized lighting scenes based on mood, occasion or style. The assistant, available in 2025, allows users to enter or speak commands to create the perfect atmosphere, and feedback features ensure continuous improvement.

It will be compatible with all Hue lights.
