Pokémon Go’s monthly Community Day ticket doubles in price

Pokemon Go 2025 will begin with a January Community Day to create Sprigatito the Grass Cat and increase prices for the regular add-on ticket to the monthly event.

Previously priced at 99p, $0.99 or €0.99, tickets will now cost £1.99, $1.99 or €2.19.

The ticket, now doubled in price, is offset by the addition of one Premium Battle Pass to the included rewards. Individually these in-game items cost £1, which makes up the difference, but Battle Passes are also always available at better prices, discounted in bundles, and in any case, two passes are offered for free each day during the game’s current season.

The full list of other rewards available in the updated ticket has not yet been determined and will only be revealed once the first players purchase the ticket and find out for themselves when the January Community Day event begins in Australian and Pacific time zones.

Pokémon Go Community Day is a monthly event where one creature is highlighted and made widely available to catch—usually for the first time—in its coveted shiny form. This is an extremely popular recurring in-game event, and players treat it as a regular day every month to meet other players.

But recent months have also seen the end of the usual Community Day mini-stories, which previously saw Pokémon Go’s handsome Professor Willow appear to tell players about each Pokémon featured. Fans lamented the removal of these stories as it further reduced ticket prices overall.

Finally, it’s worth noting that the monthly ticket is no longer provided for free to players who register for local events through Niantic-Confirmed community ambassador.

There have also been other changes to Community Day gameplay. Monthly events no longer include raids after the three-hour event window has expired in order to extend the event longer – a compromise added after the lockdown-era six-hour extended duration of Community Day reverted to the original three-hour duration, causing some backlash among the fans.

However, one new Community Day feature has been added – timed exploration, which rewards a week of further Community Day Pokémon encounters with a seasonal background if you continue to log in and play every day for the next week.

Community Day events first began back in January 2018 and have been held every month since then (except March 2020). Eurogamer Community Day Guide there’s a full list if you ever want to know what you missed.
